Leveraging Festivals Workshop - South Australian Wooden Boat Festival

The South Australian Wooden Boat Festival is on in the region from 28 till 30 April 2023!

In the month leading up to the 2-day event at the end of April, we encourage all local businesses to create an event, experience, or new product/service to promote the increased number of people visiting our region. You could host a dinner, tasting, or launch a new service or product to a large audience visiting our region during this time.

Business Alexandrina has created the Business Engagement Program for local businesses to prepare and support them leading up to next year’s event. The Business Engagement Program is designed to support local businesses to ensure they take advantage of the business opportunities available to them before, during, and after the SA Wooden Boat Festival in May 2023.

Who is this workshop for?

The workshop is designed for local businesses in Alexandrina (from the town to the coast) to better understand how they can leverage the opportunity of increased visitation to the region during the festival time. It will be relevant for all small to medium sized businesses who want to increase or create new revenue streams.

Workshop agenda

  • Business opportunities surrounding the SA Wooden Boat Festival.

  • How to leverage the visitor economy during the lead-up to the Festival.

  • Developing a product or event that you can sell e.g. events, products, new products or service launches.

  • Marketing campaign ideas to promote your new product, service or event.

  • Marketing and promotion template - you will receive a template that you can apply to your business

  • Creating bookable products on Rezdy to Eventbrite

Fleurieu Food Festival Debrief Workshop

We welcome everyone who was involved in the August 2022 Fleurieu Food Festival to attend.

Thank you for your involvement in the 2022 Fleurieu Food Festival.

As a region we achieved a lot during the festival in August, including:

  • Delivering 80 unique events across more than 50 venues

  • 10 events were completely sold out

  • 500 tickets were sold through Fleurieu Food directly, totalling over $43,000. This supported 39 events. An additional 30 hosts managed their own ticketing

  • The festival website had more than 12,000 visits, each averaging over five minutes: this is strong engagement.

  • 1.1 million people reached

We also received a lot of positive anecdotal feedback from attendees and businesses who participated in the festival.

Given our achievements as a region we want to come together on 26 October to review what worked as well as areas we can collectively improve on.

Workshop agenda

  • Key areas that worked well for operators

  • Ideas for future events

  • How can we increase attendance and involvement from local businesses

  • Leveraging collective social media following in the region

  • Areas we can collectively improve on for future events

  • Opportunities leading up to the SA Wooden Boat Festival - May 2023

  • Business engagement program details - October 2022-May 2023
