Armfield Slip is a group of enthusiasts, dedicated to the maintenance, repair and construction of wooden boats.
At Festival site No. 10, the group has a variety of wooden model paddle steamers for sale, together with raffle tickets for the popular Guillemot sailing dinghy.
At the group workshop and slipway on Riverside Drive, visitors can view demonstrations of traditional wooden boat building techniques including, caulking, steam bending and copper riveting. More modern techniques such as laminating will also be demonstrated.
Visitors will be able to view the boats maintained by the group, including a Navy Cutter, a Coorong Flattie and the iconic Storm Boy Boat, Hideaway.
